Modbury face Adelaide Comets away on Monday 8 June at Athletics SA Stadium, Mile End, in the second of two long-weekend fixtures. Kick-off is at 3:00pm.
The Jets need to bounce back quickly from their heavy defeat at home to Croydon on Saturday – a loss which should probably be characterised as “one of those days”. The depth of our squad will be tested given injuries and suspensions, however thankfully we have strengthened in recent weeks, and opportunities will be afforded to some of our up-and-coming young players. We must also be mindful of our fixture next Friday against Campbelltown in what will be our third in six days.
A win against Comets is vital to ensure that we keep in touch with the sides above us, and ahead of those below in the relegation battle. If we play to our potential, there’s no doubt that we are more than capable of coming away with the points.
When we met at Jet Park in Round 4, Comets came away with the points with a convincing 5-1 result, however the Modbury faithful would probably argue that scoreline wasn’t a true reflection of the match, given the late goals conceded after we had gone down to ten men.
