In the third of three consecutive Friday night fixtures at Jet Park, Modbury take on White City in a PS4 NPL Round 22 clash on 17 July, with kick-off at 7:30pm.
The Jets must bounce back quickly from the disappointment of last Friday’s last-minute loss to Adelaide City and claim all three points, and a convincing performance is important to give us confidence leading into the crucial final rounds of the 2015 season. While Friday’s setback against Adelaide City, together with some unexpected results from our closest rivals, has dropped Modbury back into the bottom four, the Jets’ destiny remains in their own hands with matches against the three teams below us remaining, starting with White City on Friday.
As noted by First Team coach Jason Trimboli, our recent performances are a testament to how far Modbury has come following our poor start to the season. The result against Adelaide City shows that we can match it with the best teams in the league however once again we failed to finish the match with ten players, this time due to injuries. We have found out the hard way, on more than one occasion, that its very difficult to compete in this division without the full compliment on the pitch!
Modbury last played White City away in a Round 9 Easter Monday National Premier League fixture at Frank Mitchell Park. On that occasion, we came away with a 2-0 win thanks to first half goals to Maio and McNally.
