In the final match of the 2015 season, Modbury host MetroStars at Jet Park in our Round 26 PS4 NPL fixture. Kick off is at 3:00pm.
After a long and sometimes arduous season, the Jets find themselves fighting for their Premier League survival in their final match at home for 2015. After a poor start to the campaign, with only two points on the board after the first seven matches, many didn’t expect Modbury to even be in a position to stay up, let alone be in the fight in Round 26.
A strong performance against MetroStars will be required for us to take something from the match, however given the difficult fixtures that our relegation rivals face this weekend, our destiny is arguably in our own hands. The ever-faithful Modbury supporters will be hoping that the results fall our way before joining us for an end of season celebration in the Jet Park clubrooms after the match.
In our last meeting, MetroStars ran out comfortable 2-0 winners, despite a creditable performance by the Jets, in our Round 13 match at TK Shutter Reserve back in May.
Irrespective of the results on Saturday, Modbury should be proud of its achievements this season. If not for the restructure of the leagues in 2016, our points tally of 27 would see us secure in the top flight for another season, and our defeats of the likes of Adelaide City, Blue Eagles and Raiders, and draws against Croydon and West Adelaide, prove that we belong in the Premier League.
