Modbury travel to Frank Mitchell Park, Woodville West on Friday 4 March to take on White City for their opening fixture of the 2016 State League 1 campaign. Kick-off is at 8:00pm.
Following the Jets’ dramatic relegation from the Premier League on last day of the 2015 season, the players have been itching to get back to competitive action and their chance to bounce straight back up. Modbury has retained much of last season’s squad and, with some key additions, expect to be very competitive in 2016 – arguably favourites to top a very tough State League 1 competition.
White City are a familiar foe from last season’s Premier League campaign where we came away with a 2-0 away win after goals from Steve Maio and Kieran McNally, and a 1-0 win at home with Mitch Coull finding the back of the net with a spectacular free kick. We know that White City will be a much more difficult proposition this year and are one of the sides being tipped alongside the Jets for promotion back to the top flight.
