Modbury are at home on Saturday 25 May for their Round 11 State League 1 clash against Sturt Lions. Kick off is at 3:00pm
The Jets sit top of the State League 1 ladder, three points clear of White City, following last weeks comfortable 3-0 win over Fulham and will be looking to maintain their position at the half-way mark of the season by beating Sturt at home. The Lions, relegated from the Premier League in 2018, would have been expecting to be closer to the leaders this year and will be disappointed with their position. They will be, as always, a difficult opponent.
After weathering a storm for the first 20 minutes against Fulham, Modbury broke the deadlock with a Nathan Farrell pile-driver and went on to round out the tie with two second-half goals. McGreevy’s – the Jets second – was a sublime finish following an audacious back heel from Kur and was the standout amongst three quality goals. A clean sheet, the Jets sixth of the season, was the product of another sound defensive performance.
Modbury will be expecting a similar performance on Saturday.
Modbury and Sturt last met during the 2017 State League 1 season with the Jets winning 2-1 away after a dramatic finish to the match, with Reilly saving a penalty in the 90th minute before Maio grabbed the winner in the 95th, before falling 3-1 at home in the return fixture.
