The Jets travel to West Beach on Saturday 6 July for their 3:00pm Round 16 fixture against Fulham United.
Following a dramatic Round 15 clash against second-placed White City last week, Modbury will be seeking to consolidate their advantage at the top of the ladder against Fulham. The Jets know that they are in reach of clinching the State League 1 title, however won’t be complacent – they will be well aware that they need to fight hard for every result.
Fulham are winless in the last six rounds and fighting hard to remain in State League 1 and will be a difficult opponent, especially away from home. The Jets will need to be at their best to get a result but will be encouraged by their past results at West Beach. They will be expected to claim all three points.
Last week’s draw against White City, following a last-gasp equaliser from Zac Miller – with another important goal from the bench – will give the Jets great confidence going into the final third of the season. The Jets will be disappointed to have let in two goals last week and will be seeking to tighten their defence despite having conceded a miserly 10 in 15 matches so far this season.
Modbury defeated Fulham 3-0 at home in Round 10 of the 2019 State League 1 season with goals to Nathan Farrell, Shaun McGreevy and Zac Miller. The Jets prevailed 2-1 at home and 4-1 away in 2018.
