Modbury travel to Steve Jarvis Park, Burton on Saturday 20 July for their Round 18 State League 1 clash against Salisbury, with kick-off at 3:00pm.
In a classic top-versus-bottom clash and a much anticipated northern derby, the Jets will be wary of their opponent who have much to prove following a difficult season, however Modbury will surely be very firm favourites to take the points.
The Jets are closing in on the league title but can’t be complacent over the last five rounds. A win against Salisbury is essential to ensure continue the momentum right to the end of the season as Modbury face a number of tricky away fixtures in the coming weeks and will be keen to clinch the title as early as possible.
The club’s depth is clearly evident with the Reserves 11 points clear at the top of their completion and close to wrapping the title, and the Under 18s are running second to Birkalla. It’s a credit to the coaches and the whole senior squad who are putting in every week to ensure that they are ready and able to support the first team over the final weeks of the season.
Modbury beat Salisbury 4-0 at home in Round 7 with a McGreevy brace and goals to Josh Farrell and Mitch Coull. In 2018, the Jets posted a 5-0 away win but were held to a 2-2 draw at home after giving up a 2-0 half time lead.
