In their last home match of the regular season, Modbury host Adelaide Victory in Round 21 of the 2019 State League 1 Season on Saturday 10 August, with kickoff at 3:00pm
Having secured the league title last week against Playford, the Jets will be looking forward to celebrating their achievement in front of their supporters at home. They will be expecting a tough match against a Victory side who was beaten narrowly away in Round 5.
Modbury will be seeking to cap off a remarkable year which has seen them top the ladder in every round and take an unassailable 11 point lead over second placed White City into the final rounds of the season. With the goal of promotion to the Premier League achieved, the Jets will be eyeing off a Grand Final appearance to top of their season. Having assured their place in State League 1 for the 2020 season, 10th placed Victory will be chasing a morale-boosting win over the Jets.
Josh Farrell and Shaun McGreevy continue to battle for the Golden Boot with each having scored 15 and will be aiming to increase their respective tallies having scored 30 of the Jets 51 goals between them. The miserly Modbury defence has conceded only 12 goals – five of those against White City – in 20 matches so far this season.
Saturday will be a day of celebration for the Jets as both the First Team and Reserves will be presented with Premiership trophies following their respective matches, while the U18s fight to maintain their top two finish and position themselves for a strong finals campaign.
Modbury faced newly-promoted Victory away in Round 5 of the 2019 State League season and came away from Rushworth Reserve with a 1-0 win after a penalty to McGreevy in the 42nd minute.
