Modbury travel to The Paddocks for an Easter Monday clash with old rivals Para Hills. Kickoff is at 3:00pm.
Its always the fixture that the supporters look forward to most in the calendar and there will no doubt be a great crowd at Para Hills to cheer on both teams. After the disappointment of relegation from the National Premier League in 2015, both sides are among the favourites to go back up in 2016. Clearly the Knights have had the better start to the season, however it is obvious that the competition will be very tight this year and Modbury should have every confidence that despite a less than ideal start to their campaign, they can get their season underway with a disciplined performance on Monday. Three points against Para Hills will be an important step towards establishing a platform that will allow us to put pressure on the league leaders and set us up to challenge for promotion.
We last met the Knights in Round 25 of the 2015 NPL Season when, after we grabbed the lead late in the second half through Ryan Strain, Para Hills equalised in the 88th minute to grab a 1-1 draw. It was probably the match that sealed our relegation from the Premier League. Earlier in the season, we went down in the Cup in a penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw after extra time (with goals from McNally and Clarke) but rebounded a week later to defeat Para Hills 3-0 in the Round 12 of the League following a Lindsay brace, and a goal from Marcinko.
