In the first Friday night home match for 2016, Modbury welcomes Western Strikers to Jet Park for our Round 5 State League 1 fixture, with kick off at 7:30pm.
After successive losses in the League and Cup, Modbury’s match against Western Strikers in their preferred Friday night time-slot presents a great opportunity for the Jets to kick-start their season in front of a big home crowd. There’s no doubt that they have the quality in the squad to be more than competitive, and it feels like a dominant performance is just around the corner. The Modbury supporters will be expecting that this will be the night for the Jets to turn it on!
We last met Western Strikers in the league during our ill-fated Super League campaign in 2011 where in some tight matches we drew 0-0 at home, and lost 0-1 away. We played a memorable Cup fixture at Western Strikers in 2014 with Westervelt scoring just before half time to tie the match up and McNallly eqaulising in the 90th minute to take us into extra time, where we eventually went down 2-3.
