Modbury return to Jet Park for our Round 9 Friday night fixture against Playford City. Kick-off is at 7:30pm (rather than 7:00pm as originally advertised).
The Jets need a big win against Playford to continue their surge up the State League 1 ladder. There’s no doubt that Modbury came away from their clash against Salisbury last week with what could be considered a lucky draw after twice coming from behind to grab a point following an injury time penalty from Gaston. That result leaves the Jets unbeaten in four league matches, however there is much work to do to consolidate their position and start closing the gap on the frontrunners. Three points against bottom of the league Playford is a must. The fixture has added interest as Gaston, Sabatho, Voigt and Bebbington face their old club for the first time since signing on for Modbury for the 2016 season.
Our last meeting with Playford was in the 2014 State League Playofff Final at Coopers Stadium where we prevailed 1-0 after extra time, courtesy of a sublime Westervelt free kick, to win promotion to the Premier League in 2015.
