Coming off the back of an outstanding result last weekend at Adelaide City, a result which contrary to some of the one-sided reporting during the week was thoroughly deserved by the Jets, we will be looking for an equally impressive performance against Eastern United in Round 1 of the Westfield FFA Cup. The fixture is set down for a 2:30pm kick-off at Athelstone Reserve on Saturday 4 April, 2015. It will be the first of two Easter long weekend away fixtures and while Modbury will be taking the Cup seriously and should be confident of progressing, we will no doubt be mindful of Monday’s league match against White City at Frank Mitchell Park.
The Jets first need to successfully navigate Round 1 of the Cup, and our focus must very much be on getting the required result. We cannot afford to be complacent against an Eastern United side that is experiencing a challenging State League season and will be looking to prove themselves at home.
We last played Eastern United during last year’s promotion-winning State League season where we came away with a 3-0 win at Jet Park, with a Westervelt brace, and a 2-0 win away with goals to Marcinko and McNally.
